Former New York Yankees relief pitcher Mariano “Mo” Rivera is hailed as the greatest closer of all time. Also called “Sandman” due to his entrance song when entering the game, he played his entire 19-season MLB career with the Yankees, winning five World Series championships as well as World Series MVP and ALCS MVP, among many others. A man from humble beginnings who considered baseball only as a hobby at first, he has known his wife, Clara Younce, since their elementary school days. The two were married in 1991, while Mariano was still in the minor leagues, and now has three sons together, with Mariano III following in his dad’s footsteps. His “cutter” was considered by many as the single best pitch in the game, but it was his consistency that made him successful. A fact not lost when it comes to his personal life, as he has been with his wife for almost 30 years now.
