Have you ever thought that your significant other may be acting a little shady? Always on their phone when they usually are not, taking the phone with them wherever they go throughout the house, placing the phone face down all the time? Well, you are not alone. This is common practice for those who are deceitful and enjoy cheating on their significant other. But there is one way you can snoop out the scene and check to see if they are hiding anything — especially if they have an iPhone.

You can recover deleted messages for the past 30 days on an iPhone. It works, because this is how I found out that my ex was cheating! In addition, you are able to see how crafty they get by putting in different names for people in their phone.

For instance, my ex had all these messages in her deleted file that were from a ‘co-worker’, a co-worker she never talked to. Upon opening the message thread, she had put her co-workers name in the phone who shared the same first name as the guy she was cheating on me with. Nice cover – scummy – but a nice cover.

So here is how you can check for yourself:

  1. Open the Messages app  on your iPhone.
  2. In the Messages conversation list, do one of the following:
    • Tap Edit in the top-left corner, then tap Show Recently Deleted.
    • Tap Filters in the top-left corner, then tap Recently Deleted.

If you’re in a conversation, tap the Back button to return to the conversation list.

  3. Select the conversations whose messages you want to restore, then tap Recover.
  4. Tap Recover Messages.
