Sen. Ted Cruz (R- Texas) spoke to supporters after taking a loss in Indiana, suspending his campaign in the race to the White House.

“From the beginning, I’ve said that I would continue on as long as there was a viable path to victory. It appears that path has been foreclosed,” he said.

“With a heavy heart, but with boundless optimism, for the longterm future of our nation we are suspending our campaign. I am not suspending our fight for liberty.”

He was introduced by his running mate Carly Fiorina.

“You have all stepped up,” she said.

“He is indeed a great citizen of this nation,” she said of Cruz.

“God bless the Hoosier state,” Cruz began.

He noted the risk takers and pioneers that built America.

“The constitution serves as chains to bind the mischief’s of government.”

“America is hopeful,” he said.

“We believe in peace through strength.”

Speaking on the future of America, he said “this is the fight that falls to our generation.”

“We saw a movement.”

“What you have done, the movement that you have started is extraordinary. I love each and every one of you.”

Donald Trump was projected as the winner of that state’s vote shortly after polls closed.
