John Mudry, of New Jersey spend many of his days visiting Atlantic City playing blackjack, up to 8 days a month. But a few years back, a stroke caused Mudry to not be able to drive, so he took the bus to the casino.

A few months ago, Mudry was diagnosed with terminal bladder cancer and was given only months to live. Now, nearing the end of his time here on earth and confined to a hospice bed – Mudry wished to gamble just one last time.

With the help of the staff at Complete Care at Green Acres and his hospice case manager at Visiting Nurse Association Healthgroup, his wish came true.

Mudry arrived at Bally’s casino via ambulance and his hospital bed was rolled up along side a $10 blackjack table. Mudry’s niece sat by his side as he went on to net about $4000 from his final trip to the blackjack tables.

Mudry said he was going to give the money to his niece to put towards her upcoming wedding.

When the casino asked Mudry if he would like anything special when he arrived, he said no. He simply wanted to be just like every other normal guest.
