Much of the innovations and ideas leading to the Brazilian butt lift actually occurred over a time span of many decades and the history of how the procedure came about is quite fascinating. However, the person most widely credited with what later developed to become what is known as the Brazilian butt lift is Ivor Pitanguy, who first published on buttocks work in a paper in 1964. The emphasis at this time was on the removal of excess tissue from the gluteal region to correct the drooping of the buttocks but did not lift the tissue or augment the area in any way.

It was in 1969 that another researcher named Bartels, along with colleagues recorded butt augmentation using silicone implants that had been used in breast enlargement surgeries. Silicone implants then began to be developed specifically for the buttocks region and this was documented in 1973 by scientists, Cocke and Ricketson. In the next decade, there were advances in the manufacture of gluteal implants, and soon there was a range of options for patients and doctors to choose from.

It was only in the 1990s that the concept of using a person’s own body fat in cosmetic procedures was thought of. Liposuction is a technique to remove fat from the body where there were excess amounts, had been in existence since the 1980s, but it was only recently that specialists started to think about how they could reuse this extracted fat.

ADVANTAGES OF BODY FAT INJECTIONS

Clearly, there are many advantages to using a patient’s own body fat. It is a natural substance which matches the person’s own molecular markers, which means that the immune system will not attack the fat that is re-injected into the body. This is a big advantage over synthetic substances which always have the risk of rejection associated with them.

A further advantage is that not only can liposuction be done to remove fat from where there is too much, but then the fat can be used, at the same time to enhance features, such as the buttocks. There was controversy over the butt lift operation because some patients died when fat was accidentally injected into a blood vessel.

This should not be a reason not to consider a butt lift, though, since the risks of an adverse event are actually very small provided you choose the correct clinic and specialist. If you find a reputable clinic with accredited and experienced physicians, then you do not have to worry too much about complications.

The other key thing is to be in good health since any chronic medical condition can make you vulnerable to complications of surgery.

There are other uses for fat injections, besides for the Brazilian butt lift. Fat can, in fact, once purified, be injected into the face to remove creases and deep wrinkles. It can even be used to make your lips plumper.

Basically, there are many uses for fat injections in cosmetic surgeries, and the best advice is to contact a cosmetic clinic to find out more about the butt lift and other procedures.
