It’s not difficult to convince someone to take home a lovable and fuzzy pet. With those eyes that give you an adorable stare, and the furry coziness you feel when they cuddle up against you – put when the initial cuteness starts fading away, pet owners start to discover that having a pet needs a lot of hard work and dedication to take care of them, train them and love them.
Older pets that are above 7 years old have a more difficult time finding a home to welcome them, with a 25% adoption rate. Because of this low adoption probability, an organization came up with a catchy and saleable marketing strategy to let people know what these mature pets have to offer, and why it could possibly be better to adopt them, instead of buying!
The Animal Protective Association (APA) located in St. Louis, Missouri started the genius PR campaign called the “Grown-Ass Adult” to promote all benefits new pet owners can get from adopting an adult. They came out with a series of print ads with different pets that are looking for a home, accompanied with catchy hashtags like #grownassadult and #adoptadult. The APA made a good point by saying that, while puppies are all cute and fun, “grown-ass” adult pets already know not to pee on your carpet, or eat your shoes.
Check out these hilarious posters of these cute grown-ass pets and you’ll surely be convinced to adopt at least one of them.
“The Animal Protective Association of Missouri is a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing people and pets together, advancing humane education and creating programs beneficial to the human/animal bond.”
Each pet that they’re putting up for adoption at the APA is spayed/neutered, microchipped and fully vaccinated.
They also come with 14-day wellness coverage, a leash/collar and a starter bag of Purina premium dog food.
