Lint in Clothes Dryers

Advanced

After washing your clothes, lint is a residue in the drying process and when it accumulates it pose a hazard to your safety. It usually collects around the vents and when humidity levels rise, formation of mildew and mold develop in the walls and insulation. When not cleaned, lint builds up in the lint trap, as well as inside the dryer vent, reducing airflow and drying efficiency. It is also important to note that lint is combustible and can eventually cause fires when not put in check. Therefore, the first area to clean after every load is the dryer lint trap. This is done by removing the lint from the screen then wiping clean the edges. Luckily, some dryers have indicators designed to alert you when lint has built up and block the exhaust.
