The LED lights or light emitting diode bulbs seems to be the fad for its energy-efficiency characteristics. LED lights significantly consumes less energy than its counterpart, the compact fluorescent (CFL), as it does not contain mercury. Moreover, it has become economically competitive since it yields superior quality lighting and cost savings on your electricity bill. But in all products, it still has its imperfections. In a study published by the journal Environmental Science and Technology, it reported that LED lights contain lead, arsenic and dozen other potentially dangerous substances. They added, “But we try to find better products that do not deplete the energy resources or contribute to global warming, we have to be vigilant about toxic hazards.” So, although LED light bulbs is serving its purpose in your home, take precaution on proper disposal in the long-run.
