Antibacterial Soap

Brightspot

Now more than ever, personal hygiene is paramount to general health. Even the new I-Watch OS encourages people to wash hands properly. Therefore, it would seem logical that washing hands with antibacterial and germ-killing soap would do a better job. Turns out, this is not all true, those antibacterial soaps could be downright harmful. According to epidemiologist, Allison Aiello, she explains to Scientific American that “most antibacterial soaps contain the ingredient triclosan. When the bacteria are exposed to triclosan, they undergo genetic mutations. These same mutations not only protect them from triclosan, but can make them more difficult to kill with antibiotics.”
