Who doesn’t want to take a lazy float down a beautiful river? Or better yet, imagine floating down that beautiful river all day…and…night! Camping in a tent on the ground is just so old school. I mean, who wants the stability of the ground? Wouldn’t you rather sleep in a floating tent, never knowing where you are in a particular body of water?

Well, if you answered yes to the last question, you are in luck! The Shoal Tent does just that, allows you to camp out on the water. The tent retails on Smithfly’s website for $1,499.

“70% of the earth is covered with water, now you camp on it!” declares the copy on manufacturer Smithfly’s website, implying that in addition to rivers, this tent can also be used in, say, the middle of the Pacific Ocean.

Now, many questions of come in to play here. What if water fills the tent while you are sleeping? What if you go over a waterfall or the tent flips over?

Then, there is the question of how and where do you go to the bathroom in this thing? Do you just hang over the edge and relieve yourself in the water? Or, do you somehow get to shore, hop out, do your business and then climb back into the floating grave?

What if the tent gets snagged by something, rips and you wake up submerged in the water? So many questions!

One thing you definitely don’t want to do is have a campfire in this thing! You know, because you will sink.

No matter how crazy it sounds, camping on the water is something that people want to do, because the tent was on back order for quite some time due to a high volume of sales.
Happy camping (floating).
