This over-infatuation with his own visage is the very reason why the disorder is named after him.
While there is no known cure for Narcissistic Personality Disorder, various treatment regimens have been developed to help individuals cope better with their condition. These modalities include psychological and behavioral therapy, education, and self-management techniques which are supplemented with external support from family, friends, and support groups. Although these techniques have been found effective, there is no single approach to treating the illness.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or CBT is one of the most helpful ways to help a person suffering from Narcissistic Personality Disorder. In CBT, patients learn to shift their harmful habits and with more acceptable ones. They are able to achieve this through guided self-reflection, a way for them to asses themselves and help them identify their problem areas. In addition to this, CBT also helps patients develop effective ways to manage stress, allowing them to adjust appropriately during difficult situations.
By changing their destructive behavior and managing their stress more effectively, patients are able to function better with others, allowing them to slowly form relationships which have been difficult for them to do.
