Terrorism, kidnapping, and armed conflict are considered the biggest dangers in Lebanon, particularly on the border with Syria and Israel, as well as in the refugee settlements.  Terrorist groups will normally conduct their operations on crowded public areas, especially those frequented by foreigners.  In Beirut, power is still a big concern, with buildings relying on generators, while warlords still race through the streets.  Hezbollah, the Shia militia, is reported to have thousands of missiles pointed at Israel, which incidentally, bombed one of the country’s few power stations in 2006.
