The fighting in this country can break out from anywhere, and often without warning, as warring militia groups fight to establish control, leaving scores of civilian casualties caught in the crossfire as the fighting spills over to residential or populated areas. Terrorist attacks on public areas are commonplace, as well as kidnappings not just in the capital of Tripoli, but on several parts of the country as well. Meanwhile, forces who oppose the government have taken over towns, which they turn into battlefields.
