Aside from street crime, the area within 25 kilometers of the border with Ethiopia pose the major risk due to mine fields and should be avoided.  This pretty much goes for most of the border crossings, while the border with Djibouti and Sudan should also be steered clear of to avoid possible encounters with armed groups.  In addition, the land mines has presented the country with environmental concerns like soil erosion, deforestation, overgrazing, and a significant amount of land loss.
