As tempting as the museums and pyramids are, Egypt is still not without its share of threats brought about by terrorist groups in the area. There was even an attack on a tourist bus near the pyramids in Giza using IEDs. The Sinai Peninsula, and the western desert are the main areas to be avoided as these terrorists may attack without warning, particularly in crowded areas. The Daesh-Sinai is the most notorious group in the country and though they mainly target the government and religious groups, collateral damage is still very likely.
