The areas to be avoided in Cameroon are the North, Far North, Northwest and Southwest regions, and parts of the East and Adamawa Regions due to crime and kidnapping, in addition to terrorism in the Far North, and armed conflict in the Northwest and Southwest regions. The Boko Haram, ISWA, and Islamic State Greater Sahara (ISGS) are among the terrorist groups operating in the region of Sahel and Lake Chad Basin, and have been known for kidnappings over long distances. Street crime is a concern as well, but the threat posed by these terrorist groups are the primary risk.
