A Muslim employee at a Paris supermarket (Video Below) is being hailed a hero for saving the lives of several customers at the kosher deli during last week\u2019s hostage crisis.<\/p>\n
Lassana Bathily bravely took about 15 people to a freezer inside of the grocery store, and turned off the light and the power; he saved\u00a0them from the gunman who attacked the market, killing four people.<\/p>\n
The hostage crisis took place when\u00a0Amedy Coulibaly forcibly took the market over, threatening to kill hostages should police storm the northern village where the shooters in the Charlie Hebdo attack<\/a> were hiding out.<\/p>\n As Bathily, 24, told BFMTV in France:<\/p>\n I went down to the freezer, I opened the door, there were several people who went in with me. I turned off the light and the freezer I brought them inside and I told them to stay calm here, I\u2019m going to go out. When they got out, they thanked me.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Bathily\u2019s bravery only further highlights the misguided notions many people have about Muslims, assuming that Islam and terrorism are inextricably interconnected. Bathily\u2019s actions go to show us that Islamaphobia is\u00a0dangerous and false.<\/p>\n As he stated in a BFMTV interview later:<\/p>\n We are brothers. It\u2019s not a question of Jews, of Christians or of Muslims. We\u2019re all in the same boat, we have to help each other to get out of this crisis.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
