Greta Thunberg<\/p><\/div>\n

Greta Thunberg<\/a>, the soft-spoken Swedish teen who became a global conscience for climate change and environmental activism, has been named Time\u2019s Magazine\u2019s Person of the Year for 2019.<\/p>\n

TIME had narrowed down the list of contenders to just five. Greta beat out President Donald Trump<\/em>, Nancy Pelosi<\/em>, the Hong Kong Protesters<\/em>, and the Whistleblower <\/em>for the title of Person of the Year!<\/p>\n

Thunberg quickly became one of the world’s most notable and youngest climate change activists.<\/p>\n

She created a massive movement to fight climate change after protesting alone outside the Swedish parliament during school hours on Fridays when she was 15. The young lady held up a now universally recognized hand painted sign that read \u201cskolstrejk f\u00f6r klimatet,\u201d which translates to \u201cSchool strike for the Climate.\u201d<\/p>\n

Since that moment, Thunberg has gained millions of followers and she no longer protests alone. Her thoughts on climate change have changed the way people thing about earth and what we as humans could do in order to make it better, healthier and survive longer.<\/p>\n

Thunberg, who was diagnosed with Asperger\u2019s syndrome at a young age, heard about climate change at 8-years-old and said she became instantly concerned to the point that she plunged into depression over it.<\/p>\n

\u201cI remember thinking that it was very strange that humans that are an animal species, among others, could be capable of changing the Earth\u2019s climate,\u201d she said during a\u00a02018 Ted Talk.<\/a><\/p>\n
