Samantha Gardella, of Monroe, New York, is a huge ‘Orange Is the New Black’ fan.
When Samantha found out that scenes for the show’s fourth season would be filmed at the abandoned Rockland Children’s Psychiatric Center, she was more than stoked! According to LoHud.com, the location is a “stand-in for the fictional prison where the show takes place.” It also happens to be about 30 minutes from Samantha’s house. Since realizing the set was so close to her, she’s visited three times and has taken home some creative souvenirs.
The 19-year-old film student printed out screenshots from the actual show and matched them up to the real locations on set. Her creative expression gained some serious momentum after she posted them online.
Fans from all over were in awe of Samantha’s little adventure. But it was the ‘OITNB’ official Twitter account’s response to Samantha’s creativity that simply genius and totally awesome!
Samantha states that she didn’t realize she was trespassing when she entered the abandoned property three times.
“There is no gate at the entryway to keep any uninvited guests out,” she said in an email to HuffPost. “When I went there the second and third time, all of their fences and doors were unlocked, which was odd because you’d think they’d lock everything.”
Samantha wasn’t the only one who visited the set as she stated there were others walking around at the same time she was there. However, Samantha mention she was recently informed she was trespassing on New York state private property and has been “respectfully asked not to return to the set” unless she has permission.
I would imagine after all the attention these awesome photo’s are getting that the set is pretty well locked up at this time.
I would be lying if I said I wasn’t jealous of Samantha and her adventure to the set. How cool would that be to walk around Litchfield? Totally awesome!
