Great Danes are known as gentle giants, weighing up to 200 pounds and measuring around 32 inches at the shoulder. They’re generally sweet, friendly, and mild-mannered, but their protective and territorial instincts vary, and they can be trained to become vicious guard dogs. But Great Danes are also very sensitive and can be terribly distrustful when trained with harshness. With a bite force of 238 PSI, it’s important to socialize Great Danes when they’re young. Otherwise, they may be suspicious of everyone, leading to aggression, an attitude dangerous in a giant breed. Certain incidents of death caused by them have been reported.
