It all started when social media legend, Jerome Jarre saw an article that Somalia was in the midst of a serious crisis. The area was in famine…no food, livestock or water due to a massive drought.

Jerome saw this and thought…’what if we could get a plane, filled with supplies sent over to Somalia’. So, Jerome acted on this thought. After finding out that Turkish Airlines was the only flight in to Somalia, he created the hashtag on Twitter ‘TurkishAirlinesHelpSomalia’. The idea spread across social media like wildfire.

This movement started with a crazy idea, what if we could convince Turkish Airlines to let us use one of their flights to Somalia? And fill it with food!
One shipment – providing immediate relief for immediate need.

Jerome contact his friends, actor Ben Stiller and famous vlogger Casey Neistat to help. Everyone flew to Turkey to meet with Jerome and together they were able to get Turkish airlines on board with the plan. Now, they needed to raise funds, for all of the supplies.

A GoFundMe page was started and in less than one day, the team raised over $1 million dollars and counting!

Turkish Airlines are not only making available a full cargo flight that can fly 60 TONS OF FOOD, but they agreed to let them ship food containers on their commercial aircraft to Somalia, UNTIL THE END OF THE FAMINE !!!
