The man, the myth and the legend, Jerry Springer has passed away at the age of 79.

Springer, once the Mayor of Cincinnati, lost his battle with pancreatic cancer.

Springer had one hell of a career! During the 1980s and 1990s, Springer was a WLWT news anchor.

Springer entered politics with an unsuccessful congressional race in 1970. He was elected to Cincinnati Council the following year, resigned in disgrace three years later in a Northern Kentucky sex scandal, then was re-elected a year later, demonstrating his popular appeal despite the fresh baggage.

He served as Cincinnati’s 56th mayor in 1977.

In 1993 Springer left Cincinnati and a later in his career became the host of the Jerry Springer Show! The show was so incredibly popular that in many areas it beat rival daytime TV show ‘Oprah’.

If you grew up in the 90s and early 2000s, you no doubt have watched at least a few episodes of the wild and crazy Jerry Springer Show! He was a true Rockstar and media icon!

“Jerry’s ability to connect with people was at the heart of his success in everything he tried whether that was politics, broadcasting or just joking with people on the street who wanted a photo or a word,” said Jene Galvin, a lifelong friend and spokesman for the family. “He’s irreplaceable and his loss hurts immensely, but memories of his intellect, heart and humor will live on.”
