During Conan O’Brien’s monologue on last night’s episode of Conan, O’Brien had a heartfelt message for David Letterman.
Conan spoke about the time in 1993 when Conan was first asked to host the late show. Conan states that at the time he was a nobody and never had any experience performing on television what so ever. After a few months of being on the air, Conan was nearly getting laughed out of a job, he was bombing. Ratings were low and people just didn’t feel he would be around very long.
During the February 23rd, 1994 episode of the Late Show with Conan, David Letterman appeared as a guest. During that segment, Conan states his entire life changed. It would appear that Letterman saw this young, aspiring talent struggling and he was there for one purpose and one purpose only, to help.
After that episode Conan states that everything turned around and all these years later, Conan is a success for that reason.
During last night’s episode of Conan, Conan let all his viewers know the exact moment that the Late Show with David Letterman was starting and he kindly asked all of his fans and viewers to change the channel and watch Letterman’s last show.
Conan is a man of integrity and a great talent. A classy move by a classy guy!
