Pineapple is super tasty, that’s a given — but did you know that it has some pretty awesome health benefits too?

It’s also good on pizza (yes, we said it). 😂

Our bodies are made up of 60% water so it makes sense that we should be drinking throughout the day.

Our bodies need water to help with our circulation, digestion, absorption and to transport nutrients throughout our bodies.  Most of us already understand how important drinking water is, daily. But many of us have a hard time sucking down just plain water — we need a little flavor!

So with that said, what if we could get our water intake up, and get some added nutrients in too.  Here are 3 fruit-infused water recipes that will do just that. They will also aid in weight loss, improve sleep and reduce pain and inflammation!

1. The Pineapple and Fennel Digestive Teaser

Pineapple contains something called bromelain. Bromelain is an enzyme and a powerful anti-inflammatory. Bromelain not only helps the body heal faster but also reduces aches and pains.

When combined with fennel it gives off a super tasty flavor and is also useful in calming the digestive system.  A 2010 study showed that daily supplementation of pineapple juice led to lower inflammation in mice’s colons. A 2015 study found that just 200mL of pineapple juice every day helped improve participants’ asthma symptoms and lowered their weight.

Ingredients

  • 8 cups of hot water
  • ½ cup of pineapple chunks
  • 1 teaspoon of fennel seeds

Directions

  1. Wash and slice one pineapple.
  2. Put the pineapple chunks in a container or pitcher with 8-glasses of hot water.
  3. When cool, add the fennel seeds and leave to soak overnight.
  4. You can strain the seeds or chew the fennel seeds for a little extra boost.
