DoorDash is a great way to make some quick cash, but it can also be quite lucrative too!

DoorDash is an app that allows people to order food from all sorts of places that don’t typically offer delivery. DoorDash drivers get paid to go and get that food and deliver it in a timely manner. DoorDash drivers keep 100% of the delivery fee plus any tips given for said order.

On average, a DoorDash driver can make $25 per hour and in some cases, $40+ per hour. The money is there, you just need to know how to get it!

I have personally DoorDashed…mainly for fun, to get me out in to the real world after working in front of a computer all day. I can most certainly attest to the average of $25 per hour as I typically average $26/$27 per hour.

One cool think about the DoorDash app is that if you are performing well, there are incentives. Incentives such as being able to Dash whenever you want without scheduling a time, or receiving high priority and paying orders first.

How to make the most $$

  • Only accept large orders – DoorDash ranks you on your acceptance rate, but they will warn you before your acceptance rate gets too low. This means that you have flexibility when it comes to accepting or declining orders. If you want to make the most $$, you should shoot for only accepting larger paying orders. Just keep an eye on your acceptance rate and don’t let it fall below 50% — that is a good rule of thumb.

  • Avoid high traffic areas – Traffic slows you down, and it makes parking nearly impossible. Try to avoid orders from the “heart of downtown” where it’s tough to figure out where to meet someone. You never want to pay for parking, because that will eat most of your profits.
  • Drive during peak activity – Lunchtime and dinnertime offer great opportunities for Dashers. If no one is ordering, then don’t waste your time and gas!

  • Use multiple apps – Successful gig economy workers don’t rely on a single app for their income. Become certified as an Uber, UberEats, Lyft, and DoorDash driver, so you can guarantee work any time.

  • Accept multiple orders – If the app offers you a second or third order while you are already in one, this typically means that the order is already on your route for the first order. So grab the others and make that extra $$.
