RIO MORA NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE PHOTO

A moment of life and death was caught on a trail camera in New Mexico and the still image has gone viral — as wildlife officials challenge people to try and find the mountain lion hidden in the photo.

The photo was taken at Rio Mora National Wildlife Refuge, roughly 150 miles northeast of Albuquerque, and shows an elk in a gully surrounded by trees.

“Take a moment today to search for the hidden mountain lion that is following this elk,” the refuge posted on Facebook. “How long did it take you?”

More people CAN’T find the mountain — than CAN find it! It’s rather spooky and goes to show just how stealth mountain lions are when stalking their prey.

If you are wondering what became of the elk, the refuge shared the aftermath of the photo.

“The elk moved on and the puma moved out into the open and towards where the elk was. We are not sure what finally happened.

So where is the mountain lion? “Start looking at the base of the tree that is at the far right of the picture. Move a little left and down. The puma is hidden in the grass.
