This tutorial is how to transfer an image on fabric (or other surfaces, wood, metal and glass) using an inkjet printer and freezer paper – all in the comfort of your own home.

This is such a fun and easy project for kids to do at home! Make gifts, t-shirts, or just cool artwork to decorate their room with!

Printer ink typically comes in two different types – pigment based inks an dye based.

When it comes to transferring images on fabric, having a printer that uses pigment based ink typically works best.

Freezer paper also works far better than parchment paper. The image will be more detailed and the colors will be more vibrant when freezer paper is used.

If you have tried this method year ago, you may have noticed that the transferred image(s) may have washed off, but that is not the case with the inks produced today (at least for the majority).

What You Will Need:

  • Inkjet Printer
  • Epson Durabrite Ink – (that seems to work best)
  • Freezer paper
  • Iron
  • Ironing Board
  • Scissors
