One of the things people consider when moving to a new home is the issue of pets. Some condos have special provisions for pets like a pet spa or even an off-leash dog area for your favorite pet. If you are getting a new puppy in your condo, you need to care for it.

Bearing this in mind, here are some tips to know about caring for your pets in a condo.

Consider Dog Breeds

It can be quite uncomfortable if you have to cramp up a large breed dog in your condo space. Most condos come with very small spaces and it is almost impossible to keep your dog in a small room. If you live in a condo and are considering getting a dog, it would be nice to start searching for the smaller breeds. There are good dog breeds for a condo environment like a chihuahua, Maltese, Pomeranian, bulldogs, dachshund, and more. You can do some research on the type of breeds that can live comfortably in condos.

Find The Nearest Pet Store

Another thing you need to consider if you are going to be keeping your pet is supplies. There are some basic items your dog will need like its food, beddings, chew toys, leash, collar, etc. It will be more convenient for you to have access to a pet store around just in case you need to dash to a pet supply.

Exercise Your Dog Daily

Dogs love to play and run around. Sometimes your condo space may not give them enough room for exercise, so you will need to explore other options outside. For instance, if you want to play fetch with your dog, you will end up turning your apartment upside down because your dog will likely knock things around and even sustain some injuries. Your best option will be to make time every day if you can, for its playtime.

Having a park close by will be a lifesaver and your dog can always have a place to play without you needing to travel around the city looking for a park. Some condos come with a park where most people do their early morning walks, so you can take this opportunity to walk your dog.  If you live close to a hiking area, you can also take your dog out to have fun hiking.

Make A Comfortable Space For Your Dog

If you will be sharing a small space with your little pet, you will need to create a special spot for your dog. It would be great if you already have a bed or pillow as well as its food bowl and water bowl together. Other items like blankets to keep your dog warm and toys to play with will keep your dog comfortable in the condo. You can keep these items in the designated space but always make sure you check on your dog to see it is safe. If you live in a high-rise condo and you don’t find it convenient having to go to the ground floor to walk your dog, you can make a space on your balcony for it. Most people prefer to lay a fake green carpet grass and place a tray along with pee pads to handle the mess.
