Don’t give candy, gum, or baked goods as treats to your pet as these foods are sweetened using xylitol, which may not be fully digested in the intestines. What xylitol does is cause an insulin spike in your dog’s body which can lead to their blood sugar dropping hypoglycemia, and cause liver failure. Some of the early signs include lethargy, vomiting, and coordination problems, and then seizures.
