In the last recent years, street art has slowly transformed from what was previously known as vandalism to now, contemporary art. There are many amazing street artists that make use of the public city streets as an open-air gallery to showcase their talent and creativity. It’s also a gift from the artist to the people to exhibit their work for everyone to see and enjoy.
Isn’t it great to be walking home and being surrounded by amazing art, instead of bland and white walls adorning public spaces?
Even if there are loads of street artists that deserve recognition, there is this particular one that stands out among the rest. Swedish urban artist Johan Karlgren, who goes by the name Pappas Pärlor specializes in pixel art wherein he creates his drawings with beads and intergrates his work in urbanized environments.
His creations are so entertaining because each piece, with its unique designs are created to integrate with it’s surroundings, but at the same time they stand out. His inspiration is taken from old cartoons, movies, TV series and video games. That’s pretty obvious once you’ve seen even a few of his creations!
Pappas Pärlor told Bored Panda that: “A creation can take me 15 minutes or 2 weeks depending on the occasion. But I prefer stuff that’s quick. I’d rather use as few pixels as possible than go big.”
You can find his awesome street art on the most common things on the road such as sculptures, traffic signs, streets and exposed pipes. They’re always represented with a vintage-look from Super Mario Brothers to Ninja Turtles.
