If you were ever punished as a child for swearing too much, keeping a messy room or staying up all hours of the night…well…it more than likely wasn’t your fault. As science now suggests that all those behaviors may be linked to a higher IQ.

You see Mom and Dad…it wasn’t my fault — I’m just too smart!

Smart people use more swear words!

Back in the day, people used to say that if you swore a lot, you probably just had a limited vocabulary. That’s not the case.

There is actually study that has been done to disprove that myth. The results of the study showed that those who could name the most swear words within a minute time frame, typically scored higher on IQ tests. The studies results found that a person with a rich vocabulary of swear words, is actually a positive sign of a strong vocabulary, not a weak one.

Smart people often times enjoy staying awake late at night!

This too, has been backed by scientific research. Those who stay up late into the night, scored much higher on IQ tests, opposed to those who go to bed early. Quite a few famous and successful people throughout history have been linked to late night activities. So if you are one who enjoys staying up late, you are in pretty awesome company, as President Obama, Elvis Presley, Charles Darwin and Winston Churchill have all been famous for staying up all night!

A messy personal space and a big brain go together like a horse and carriage!

So, if you are one to swear all the f**king time, stay up all hours of the night and keep a messy room or work space…there is awesome news!

A study from the University of Minnesota states that the messy work space of a genius, is directly linked to their intelligence level. The theory is, if you are not worried about, or spending time on cleaning up your surroundings, your brain is clearly more occupied elsewhere.

The study also showed that a messy environment could create a more productive atmosphere…especially in the workplace.

Psychological scientist Kathleen Vohs stated in the study: “Disorderly environments seem to inspire breaking free of tradition, which can produce fresh insights. Orderly environments, in contrast, encourage convention and playing it safe.”
