The NBA star came out unconventionally on the pages of male-orientated magazine – Sports Illustrated. However, he opted to tell his truth the magazine in April 2013, he exclaimed “I didn’t set out to be the first openly gay athlete playing in a major American team sport. But since I am, I’m happy to start the conversation.”
