Have you seen Russian embroidery artist Vera Shimunia’s latest creations? These dreamlike, miniature landscapes are stunningly beautiful. With a rapid following of over 200,000 followers on her Instagram account, @shimunia – its nice to see that a lot of people are awed by her talent and imagination.
The completely self-taught creator is inspired by the one and only thing that makes the world go round. “Love” . “I just decided to try. And when I made my first embroidered piece the boy I liked (he has great taste and he is in art community) wrote me: ‘you did this?? So cool’ and I decided to continue,” Shimunia told Bored Panda.

About a year and a half after she started to hone in on her talent, she decided to share her creations to the public. “I started to publish my embroidery experiments in Instagram and people start to write me, ‘can I buy it?’ And I thought – why not.”
With the play of the vibrant colors of the earth’s sunsets, and the whimsical plays on bluish and purple colored skies, Shimunia transports you to a different world that has been brought into existence through the inspiration of nature and music. The intricate detailing of each embroidery can take from three days, to a month’s creation, depending on the artistic difficulty. “I am thinking about future embroidery, I am preparing the necessary materials. “Sometimes the picture in my head does not coincide with what I made, then I cut off treads and try again.” Says Shimunia.

This young artists vision has not stopped evolving and improving since she started. Her astounding needlepoint has created so many beautiful backdrops with eye-popping 3D visuals. Shimunia has detailed them so intricately that they could pass off as miniature paintings!
