Keeping Score

Medium

Unfortunately for any relationship, arguments occur when either the man or the woman bring up issues from the past. Keeping score of the “bad” things that your partner did before, and never allowing them to forget it, is a surefire way of creating a hostile environment, especially when that person has already apologized for that behavior again and again. It’s tiring, unnecessary and creates a ton of resentment. A marriage counselor iterated that, “A partnership is a team, not a competition. Whether a person keeps score of everything they have done, or everything their partner has done, it is a death knell for the relationship. This is one of the most common causes of resentment in a relationship.”
