Neonatal care has been around since the 60s and technology has become way more advanced since then, but still, if it’ll take $10,000 for half an hour, imagine the cost of having your baby in neonatal care for a few weeks.  Neonatal refers to the first 28 days of life of your baby.  Also known as an intensive care nursery (ICN), the neonatal intensive care unit specializes in the care of ill or premature newborn infants.  The NICU is usually directed by one or more neonatologists and staffed by nurses, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, physician assistants, resident physicians, and respiratory therapists, including dietitians.  Equipment used include the incubator, blood pressure monitor, oxygen hood, and ventilator.  This Philadelphia-born respondent joined Twitter in February 2009.
