Either this is their way of encouraging people to do things for themselves or promoting the lucrative business of healthcare.  I’m sure there’s a video somewhere of how to do this.  In a 2013 report by The New York Times, it was estimated that each single stitch at an emergency department costs around $500. The article even included the profile of a man billed $3,355.96 for five stiches on his finger, and a woman who got billed $2,229.11 for three stitches. By comparison, the total cost of stitches at urgent care usually range between $150 and $350, depending on the gravity of the laceration.  If only everything were dissolvable stitches, which don’t need any removing as enzymes in the body break them down, then dissolve and disappear on their own.
