When you hear the term ombré, you will also typically be followed by balayage. What are the difference and similarities of the two anyway? Ombré basically is a two-toned hair color effect that is typically darker at the top and lighter at the bottom. Balayage on the other hand is a technique of hand-painting or sweeping hair color along the surface of the hair.
The difference between traditional ombré and the reverse-ombré styles would be that with ombré, you would start with darker colors at the roots and then later on use faded lighter colors towards the end.
While, reverse-ombré would be the opposite of the traditional ombré methods. Instead of using the natural graduation from darker hues to lighter ones, it is simply the opposite. A benefit of the opting for the reverse is that the fading from light to dark not only provides an overall brighter appearance, it also provides great depth. This particular color combination is fantastic for those who are not yet ready to go grey all over, as the dark color contrast helps maintain a youthful edge.
