Chest pain can be described in a number of ways, from squeezing pain, to a fluttering sensation, to immense shooting or a stabbing type of discomfort. When individuals experience chest pain, they immediately think that it has something to do with the heart, or possibly issues with acidity. But sharp or stabbing chest pain can actually be caused by pneumonia, especially if the pain worsens with a deep breath or with a cough. Whatever the reason though, chest pain should never be ignored and anyone experiencing it should head straight to the ER to have it examined.
