If you’re an avid follower of MMA as a sport, you would have not missed the fact that Ben Askren lost to Jorge Masvidal in a way no MMA fighter would ever want to lose. The incident was covered by almost all the major websites who publish MMA News on their portal and it was a humiliating defeat at the hands of Jorge Masvidal for Ben Askren. However, it is the spirit of the wrestler to bounce back and not give in to a single loss and get settled. That is what the MMA fighter Ben Askren doing at present — asking for a rematch.

Ben Askren lost his match to Jorge Masvidal in under 5 seconds, when he was hit by a flying knee by Jorge Masvidal inside the cage. However, it was that kind of UFC Result that no fighter would ever want to be featured in — it’s humiliating and it’s humiliating to the core. But then, Ben has bounced back and taken to social media and various interviews saying that it is a part of the sport and that except for a couple of things, nothing much was proved that day. He said in an interview:

What I said explicitly was I wanted to come back to see if I was the best in the world. In those five seconds, we didn’t find that out. We found out Jorge has a fantastic knee and that I’m not invincible, but we didn’t find much else out.

While it was clear that Jorge would not accept that rematch challenge in the first instance itself, it was later proved in the conversation and verbal and keyboard battle that followed on social media. It was on social media that Jorge replied to the MMA star asking him to get some more wins before he should challenge the better fighter. Jorge was quoting a news article from MMAfighting.com to make his statement. However, Ben was quick enough to reply him back and said:

I see you are appreciating me make you famous.  You’re welcome sucka!

Jorge then mockingly said that Ben Askren was in desperate need of a hug and appealed the Netizens to give him one as he never got a chance to do so inside the Octagon back in July when he finished it off in 5 seconds with his knee. This was a rather bold remark as the loss Jorge was talking about had cleared out all the hype which has surrounded Ben Askren coming into the UFC. Also, his chances at a championship match were also faded by that humiliating loss.

Ben Askren is already booked to fight Demian Maia at UFC Fight Night 162 on 26 October 2019 in the main event, whereas Jorge Masvidal is also booked for a BMF title match at UFC 244 on 3 November 2019. The title, BMF is not a new title as it seems to be but instead a marketing gimmick that suits the people involved in the match. Whether Jorge will agree to a rematch is still an unanswered question, but you can never predict the future accurately.
