Bronchitis not only causes a constriction of the bronchial tubes, it also causes an over production of mucus. Since mucus works as ‘a protective and moisturizing layer to keep critical organs from drying out,’ when there is dust, bacteria and other issues irritating it, it causes more mucus to form. Much like with a common cough or cold, mucus is formed that is usually white or yellowish green, but when it turns darker like really green and even grey in color, then this could be a sign of bronchitis. And if you notice blood in it, be sure to go to your doctor as soon as possible.
