When the weather is warm we all love to hang outside and enjoy the outdoors. Whether you are out for a hike in the woods, camping or just in the backyard with friends – mosquitoes are there to attack!
Mosquito bites can be painful, itchy and just outright annoying. Typically the bites feel much better while they are being scratched, however – scratching mosquito bites is a big no-no. If you want them to go away quickly, that is.
One of the best and easiest ways to get rid of the annoying itch of a mosquito bite, is a simple mixture of water and baking soda. Mix the two ingredients to form a paste and then dab that mixture on to the bites.
Icing an area where bites are prevalent is also another simple and good option. The cold is vasoconstricting, meaning it works to reduce the amount of blood flowing to the bite area, therefore reducing swelling and itching.
Another wonderful idea to relieve the itchiness is an oatmeal bath. Oatmeal will help by lowering the skin’s pH level to soothe the irritation. If you don’t want to go out to the store to purchase an oatmeal bath mixture, you can simply blend up some oats that you have at home. Blend them into a fine powder and add it to your bath water!
