Considering how much the world needs nurses, and not just in the face of the current pandemic, you may be wondering why they are underappreciated, taken for granted, or even mistreated. Not just by the patients, but also by those who are supposed to have their backs. They work long hours, often not able to take breaks or lunches, under tremendous stress and pressure, and are probably among the first ones to be blamed when something goes wrong. And contrary to popular belief, they’re not immune to whatever illness or disease their patient has. They can get infected just like everyone else.
