The family of a suspected drunken driver who was shot by a Paradise police officer released a statement Friday condemning the shooting and calling for justice.

In the dash cam video of a Paradise, California police officers patrol car, we see an officer open fire on a man who had just rolled his vehicle. The man is seen trying to climb out from the wreckage when the officer draws his weapon, takes aim and shoots the man in the neck, possibly leaving him paralyzed for the rest of his life.

(See videos below)

No charges have been filed against the officer who is currently on administrative leave. The first video below shows the graphic dash cam video in its entirety. The video below that, shows nothing but support and excuses being made for the officer by fellow city officials.

Forgive me if I am failing to see the life or death threat in the dash cam video, but this man has his arms and hands in plain site on the top of the rolled car. His entire body weight was resting on his hands as he tried to escape the wreckage. This officer casually drew his weapon and fired at the man in just mere seconds of arriving on the scene.

The accident victim clearly did not have a weapon in his hands. How is drawing your weapon, aiming at an individuals face and pulling the trigger an accident? Even after the man was clearly shot in the neck, the officer showed zero urgency to offer any medical aid to the man.

Something is not right here and what is more concerning is the fact none of the ‘city officials’ feel there is an issue either.

I should be noted that there was a female occupant in the vehicle when it rolled over. That woman thrown from the vehicle and pronounce dead at the scene.

This situation is quickly becoming a very controversial. Some folks are justifying the cops actions by stating the man was driving intoxicated and killed another human being. Even if this is proven to be so however, the officer still has to obey the law and can not let emotions caused by the scene get the best of him.
