The pregnancy seemed to be a small bump in the road. Dennis did what was considered proper, he proposed to Karen, and vowed to care for her and the child as best as he could. But it was obvious that her parents were not thrilled, not just about the pregnancy, but the match itself. And since Karen was a minor and not allowed to make decisions without her parents consent, it was not up to her. Her parents did not allow the marriage. They had different plans which would devastate both Karen and Dennis…they opted to ship Karen to a maternity home. Karen had no choice but to obey her parents, it was the 1960s after all.
