Audible Backup Beeping

Okay, so you go in reverse, then start to back-up, a beeping sound is activated, supposedly to let others know that you are in reverse. Serves like a warning alarm. But why does it seem to be coming from inside your car, loud enough to be heard outside? It is not only distracting, but quite deafening. It may cause accidents instead of preventing them. Some features were not really thought out well. Either that or the manufacturers just don’t care.
