Wheels Replacing Sticks For Shifting

Granted these new feature is for automatic drive vehicles (it would be hell for manual drive), but who told them to replace the stick-shift? Wheels? If it is supposed to make it easier for the driver, it does not, as the driver will have to remove his eyes from the road to shift gears using the “new” wheel. It becomes a safety hazard. If it’s to make the vehicle look more modern, really? Don’t reinvent the wheel, so to speak. There is nothing wrong with a stick shift. Besides, drivers are used to it already.
