Aside from helping solve crimes, Kyle also protected John in more ways than one. Although Kyle was originally said to be too sweet, he was excellent at keeping John protected during their time on duty, even saving John’s life by pushing him out of a bullet’s path. It seemed that it wasn’t that Kyle was lacking as a K-9, it was that love motivated him to take care of his partner, an emotion he obviously felt wholeheartedly for his partner. And John returned that love tenfold.
