It might seem unlikely, but when someone has very high levels of glucose, it causes the body to suck out fluid from the different tissues throughout the body, including the eyes. When this happens, your vision goes blurry and you can’t see clearly, no matter how many times you rub your eyes or put rewetting drops. And to makes matters worse, when diabetes is left untreated, it can damage the eye vessels, even causing loss and vision and in worse cases, blindness. If you notice that your vision has been fuzzy and bleary, especially when it is accompanied by other symptoms, be sure to make an appointment with your doctor to get checked for diabetes. And if your results come back positive, be sure to have your eyes checked at least every 6 months to make sure that any damage is halted before it becomes incurable.
