Three Handles On a Jerry Can

If you’re the outdoorsy type, then you’ve been privy to a jerry can before. You’ve also probably noticed that these cans also have three handles on the top. That’s not because the designers decided to be wasteful. Since most jerry cans can be filled up to five gallons of fuel at a time, the two outer handles are so that two people can carry the can together, distributing the weight between them evenly, while the middle handle is meant for those guys that can take carrying those 5 galloons all by themselves.
