People have been wearing jeans for decades, so they don’t really think twice about them or the way they’re designed. But if you take a closer look, you’ll notice that they have tons of little buttons, otherwise known as rivets, strategically placed all over their favorite blue denims. That’s because jeans have a tendency to get totally worn out, whether from overuse or over washing, or both. And while these little buttons give jeans their distinct look, they are actually placed in all those areas for a reason, to keep the denim from fraying and ripping apart. Original designer and jean tycoon Levi Strauss actually owns the patent of these very important rivets, which is probably why you still own a pair of Levi’s that are about as old as you by now.
